Travelex Travel Insurance – The ultimate in travel protection and emergency travel assistance. The limits you select are ultimately up to you, but travel industry experts caution against skimping on coverage in order to save a few bucks. The most important place to be adequately insured is medical coverage; Megan Singh of recommends at least $50,000, which should be enough to cover a week or more in the hospital. In that same vein, Megan Freedman of the U.S. Travel Insurance Associations suggests starting with $100,000 of emergency evacuation coverage, as these costs can add up quickly.
If you’re planning a trip longer than six months, Allianz is one of your best options. Most providers (except for Travelex) limit their coverage to three months, but Allianz will insure trips up to one year in length – a great match for long vacations, backpackers, or those studying abroad. The plan we recommend is the OneTrip Premier Plan (formerly the Classic with Trip+), which meets our travel insurance requirements and covers kids under 17 for long family excursions.

Great ideas. I am wondering though if there are ways to travel cheap that doesn’t involve labor. Though I am young, dealing with a chronic illness and doing harder labor than what my doctor would allows me to do would defeat the purpose of a vacation. Also, my travel time is pretty limited (maybe two weeks!) so I doubt I would want to sped a large block of time working”. The other ideas sound doable though.
